Pedro Rodríguez Garrido (Huelva, 1971) is a visual artist specializing in painting, holding a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Seville in 1998. Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally.
Among his solo exhibitions, notable ones include: Adam Gallery in Bath (UK, 2018), Galería Espacio 0 in Huelva (2018), Fundación Caja Rural in Seville (2017), Gallery Backlund in Göteborg (Sweden, 2014), and Galería Puchol in Valencia (2012), among others. He has also participated in international fairs such as the London Art Fair (2017-2018), ArcoMadrid (2013), and the Moscow World Fine Art Fair (2012).
Her work is currently framed within abstract expressionism, after having gone through a long period where figuration and urban landscapes were the main focus.
Her trip to Seoul in 2022, for her first solo exhibition in South Korea, marked a turning point in her work, leading her to approach her art from a completely new perspective. Inspired by the urban landscape of Seoul, but detaching from any referential imagery, she began to construct a personal universe based on memories and lived sensations.
Her work reflects clear references to the Asian country, through elements such as newspaper clippings, symbols, letters of the Korean alphabet, and various reflections presented in an abstract key.
The pictorial process she employs is free, intuitive, and gestural, allowing the painting to speak for itself without the need for a recognizable image. She uses a wide variety of plastic resources and materials, such as acrylic, oil, pencils, crayons, oil pastels, spray paint, and resin, on diverse supports such as linen, paper, or wood.
