about Carmen Baena
Granada, 1967
Carmen Baena (Benalúa de Guadix, Granada, 1967) is a Spanish multidisciplinary artist based in Murcia, where she has developed most of her career. She holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and works across diverse media including white marble sculpture, embroidery on paper and canvas, and photographic experimentation, combining them in a reflective exploration of the body, time, and space.
Her work is inspired by the natural landscapes of her childhood in Granada, creating spiritual and sensory landscapes that transport the viewer to intimate, poetic, and enigmatic spaces. In her recent series, color, circular forms, and embroidered threads convey movement, memory, and emotion, offering immersive visual experiences.
Baena has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Spain and abroad, and her work is included in public and private collections, including institutions in the regions of Murcia and Valencia, municipal collections, and museums such as the Postal Museum of Madrid.
