Joan Gardy Artigas (Boulogne-Billancourt, France, 1938) is a Catalan ceramist and sculptor, regarded as a key figure in European contemporary ceramics and widely recognized for his historic collaboration with Joan Miró.
Trained at the École du Louvre and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he developed a career defined by the exploration of ceramics, sculpture, and graphic work. Throughout his career, he collaborated with artists such as Georges Braque, Marc Chagall and, most notably, Joan Miró, contributing to major monumental projects including the UNESCO Wall, Barcelona Airport, and Dona i Ocell.
His work is characterized by the strength of color, formal freedom, and the integration of art, architecture, and public space, establishing him as a leading figure in the renewal of 20th-century ceramics and sculpture.
