Jaén, 1958
Javier de Juan (Linares, Jaén, 1958) is a Spanish multidisciplinary artist whose work spans painting, printmaking, illustration, muralism, and digital art. Associated with the Movida Madrileña and the New Figuration movement, he co-founded the magazine Madriz and the publishing house Port Said, promoting emerging artists. His work blends tradition and experimentation, exploring urban transformation, graphic language, and visual narrative.
De Juan has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Spain and internationally. His work is held in major public collections, including the Fundación Telefónica, the Reina Sofía Museum, the Calcografía Nacional, and the Contemporary Spanish Print Museum, among others. He has received awards such as the National Printmaking Prize and the Pop Eye Award for his visual arts trajectory, and he is an honorary professor at the University of Design, Innovation and Technology (UDIT).
