Madrid, 1929
Lucio Muñoz (Madrid, 1929 - 1998) was a Spanish painter prominent in informalism and gestural-material abstraction. Trained at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Muñoz developed a distinctive visual language characterized by textural experimentation and mixed-media techniques, incorporating wood, sand, and other materials into his canvases.
His work combines lyrical abstraction with a tactile dimension, creating compositions where color and material interact to convey emotional intensity.
He exhibited nationally and internationally, and his works are included in major collections such as the Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid), the Museo de Arte Abstracto Español de Cuenca and the Guggenheim Museum (New York).
