about Luis Feito
Madrid, 1929
Luis Feito (Madrid, 1929 - 2021) was a Spanish painter and a key figure in informalism and Spanish abstraction. A founding member of the group El Paso (1957‑1960), Feito developed a style characterized by expressive gesture, the intense use of black, and textured surfaces, exploring the relationship between material and pictorial space.
His work, including painting, printmaking, and graphic arts, has been exhibited in national and international museums, such as the Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid), the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris and MACBA (Barcelona). Feito is recognized for his role in renewing the Spanish visual language in the second half of the 20th century and for the poetic strength of his abstraction.
