Pittsburg, 1939
Miguel Condé (Pittsburgh, USA, 1939) is a figurative painter, draftsman, and printmaker of Mexican heritage who has lived and worked between Madrid and Sitges (Spain) since the late 1960s. Largely self‑taught, he studied anatomy in New York and printmaking techniques at the famed Atelier 17 in Paris.
His work is noted for its poetic, symbolic figuration, featuring enigmatic figures and dream‑like atmospheres where narrative and psychological depth converge. Condé has received several international honors, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, and is a member of the Société des Peintres‑Graveurs Français.
He has shown widely across Europe and the United States, with major retrospectives in prominent galleries, and his work is held in leading public collections such as the MoMA (New York), the Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid), the Albertina (Vienna), and the Bibliothèque nationale de France (Paris), among others.
