about Roldán Lauzán Eiras
La Habana, 1987
Roldán Lauzán Eiras (Havana, Cuba, 1974) is a Cuban visual artist working across painting, drawing, and sculpture, with a visual language centered on the human figure, memory, and existential reflection. He trained at the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts and the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) in Havana, and has developed a solid career both in Cuba and internationally.
His work is characterized by an expressive figurative approach, rich in symbolism and emotional intensity, where the body becomes a site of conflict, identity, and transformation. Through intense gestures, dense atmospheres, and a restrained color palette, Lauzán explores themes such as human vulnerability, the passage of time, and psychological introspection. His work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions and is held in public and private collections.
