Marta Chirino Argenta (Madrid, 1963) is a Spanish botanical artist, scientific illustrator, and biologist whose work bridges art and science through the detailed study of nature. She holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid and completed her artistic training at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid.
Since 1987, she has worked as a scientific illustrator for the Royal Botanical Garden CSIC (Madrid) and other official institutions. A member of The Society of Botanical Artists since 1998, she has received major awards including the Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medal, the Margaret Stevens Award, and the SBA Certificate of Botanical Merit.
She has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions since 2001, exploring botanical illustration as a field where scientific rigor and artistic sensitivity coexist. In addition to her artistic practice, she has held institutional roles and was appointed Corresponding Academician of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of the Canary Islands in 2022.
