Susana Solano
Barcelona, 1946
She is one of the most prominent sculptors in contemporary Spanish art. She studied Fine Arts in Barcelona and began her career as a painter, eventually turning to sculpture in the early 1980s.
Her works, typically made from metal, sheet steel, mesh, and wire, explore the relationship between the human body, space, and memory. Her practice moves between abstraction and architecture, creating “symbolic spaces” that exist on the boundaries between the visible and the hidden.
Her name appears in major international collections, and she has received prestigious awards such as the National Prize for the Visual Arts in 1988.
