Marchena, 1930
Alfonso Fraile (Marchena, 1930 – Madrid, 1988) was a Spanish painter and muralist who stood out for his participation in Nuevo Espacialismo and for his ability to integrate painting, sculpture, and decorative arts.
His artwork combines figurative and abstract elements, exploring space, form, and color through balanced compositions, color planes, and dynamic volumes that convey depth and visual rhythm.
He was awarded the National Painting Prize (1962) and the National Fine Arts Prize (1983), and his work was shown in solo exhibitions in Spain and the United States, including a retrospective at the Museo Español de Arte Contemporáneo in 1985.
