Valencia, 1942
Manolo Valdés (Valencia, 1942) is an internationally recognized Spanish artist working in painting, sculpture, and collage. He began his career as a member of the group Equipo Crónica (1964‑1981), where he reinterpreted popular visual culture and classical art through a contemporary lens.
His work is characterized by simplified forms, vivid color, and mixed techniques, reimagining portraits and historical motifs with a modern and sculptural approach.
Valdés has exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide, and his work is part of collections such as the Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid), the MoMA (New York), and the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris.
