Mar Hernández (Madrid, 1984) is a Spanish visual artist whose work explores the memory of interior and domestic spaces, examining how time and absence transform the everyday. Her practice combines drawing, photography, and graphic intervention, poetically reconstructing abandoned spaces and creating multiple temporal dimensions within a single setting.
Trained at the Complutense University of Madrid and having completed residencies at the Academy of Spain in Rome and Casa Velázquez, she has received numerous national and international awards and scholarships. Her work has been exhibited in Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, and China, and is part of both public and private collections. Hernández is conceptually linked to “Contemporary Ruin”, using abandoned spaces as a starting point to reconstruct alternative memory and to expand the boundaries of drawing and image.
