Jean Miotte (Paris, 1926 - New York, 2016) was a French painter associated with informalism and gestural painting. His work is characterized by quick, fluid gestures, bold use of color, and lyrical abstraction, aiming to convey emotion and energy through mark-making and composition.
Miotte exhibited internationally in museums and galleries across Europe, the United States, and Asia, becoming one of the most significant figures in European informalism of the 20th century. His legacy includes an extensive body of work and a lasting influence on contemporary abstraction.
