Riera i Aragó (Barcelona, 1954) is a Spanish contemporary artist whose work focuses on sculpture and painting, distinguished by a highly recognizable visual language based on the imagery of airplanes, submarines, and mechanical devices. Since the late 1970s, he has developed a consistent and coherent artistic career, transforming these elements into metaphors for travel, time, silence, and exploration.
His work is characterized by a minimalist and poetic aesthetic, where industrial forms become objects rich in symbolism. He works with materials such as iron, bronze, wood, and paint, combining formal rigor with a contemplative sensitivity. Emptiness, oxidation, and stillness play a central role in his compositions, evoking mental landscapes and introspective states.
Riera i Aragó has exhibited extensively in Spain and internationally and has created large-scale public sculptures in cities including Barcelona, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, and Lisbon. His work is included in major public and private collections, establishing him as one of the most distinctive figures in contemporary Spanish art.
